Icelandic law states: "All eiderdown, whether for distribution on the domestic market or for export, shall be graded and weighed by officially appointed eiderdown quality inspector after complete cleaning. Before distribution on the domestic market or export takes place, it must be established that the eiderdown passes the quality assessment of the inspector, accompanied by their certificate to that effect."
